Palmela is a territory that has Music in it. We know it and we feel it. We can hear it coming out of every half-open door, every wide open window, every face passing by. We know about several families that make music become a link between generations. But we want to go further, we want to find, understand and safeguard this secular evidence.
Through a Collaboration Protocol with the Institute of Ethnomusicology - Center for Studies in Dance Music (INET-md), University of Aveiro, we are developing an investigation that counts on several specialists in the fields of music, anthropology, history, archive, information and communication technologies, among others.
It is our goal to map the musicians, the songs and the performances that make up the musical diversity of Palmela and to interview the people who make it happen. We aspire to understand how the musical ambience of the territory influences the new generations and those who arrive and who settle here. We want to promote the sustainable development of the territory, and music is our motto.
