Until October 31st, Cineteatro S. João, in Palmela, will host the exhibition ‘A Picture, a Thousand Musical Memories’ (“Uma Imagem, Mil Memórias Musicais”). Under the theme of Palmela’s music and songs, it can be visited from Monday to Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and it includes photographs and other documentation related to centenary collectivities, namely Sociedade Filarmónica Humanitária, Sociedade Filarmónica União Agrícola, Sociedade de Instrução Musical,Sociedade Filarmónica Palmelense "Loureiros", and also Conservatório Regional de Palmela.
This exhibition also covers areas, such as theatre, vaudeville and variety shows; popular festivals, círios, folklore and cante, and ensembles, performers and shows.
‘A Picture, A Thousand Musical Memories’ is part of Palmela’s application to join the UNESCO Creative Cities of Music Network and of the local authority’s project ‘A Picture, A Thousand Memories’, which dates back to 2011, and was created with the objective of collecting the photographic heritage of the municipality, through scanning, preserving and disseminating the pictures provided by several entities. Currently, it includes about 6,000 pictures provided by 84 entities.
